The music video we produced for singer Tommy Sands, where we incorporated a giant 30 foot photos depicting subject matter in the client’s song which were locked in place above the landscape to look like they were floating stationary as our drone camera passed over mountains, forests and under the surface of Spelga dam, high in the Mourne Mountains, is another example of veetoo’s innovative video production, designed, shot and edited to engage like no other.

Rising Stars Ireland awardees for Screen Ireland and Screen International

Veetoo creative director Stephen S T Bradley was asked by Screen International to produce a video to announce recipients of the newly created Rising Stars Ireland awards for use in the magazine and to promote the awardees at the Screen Ireland pavilion at Cannes Film Festival.

Production overview:

Everything about this project was kept private until the day the winners of the Rising Stars Ireland awards were announced to those in the international entertainment industry, in movie magazine Screen International, followed by further promotion by Irish government film production organisation Screen Ireland at ther pavilion at Cannes Film Festival.

LOCATION SCOUT: Veetoo creative director first scouted multiple picturesque locations in Dublin city before arriving at Rathfarnham Castle as the ideal place to produce the video, because of the contrasts between the building’s old architecture and its modern exhibition spaces.

SHOOTING SCRIPT: Outr shooting script was created to quickly ntroduce the building to those unaware if it (using aerial drone video), before cutting straight to talking head videos mixed with, photo portraits of the Rising Stars Irelnd award recipients ho were interviewed inside one of the buildingss grand interior rooms.

The video we produced was ended by including Screen Ireland’s branded graphics, to leave thoughts of Ireland’s premier film industry promotion organisation with viewers from the international film and television production community.

Riverside Two

Video production portfolio:
construction drone video of Riverside Two for Cundall

Our creative director was asked to produce a construction video production of newly installed technology on the roof of the Riverside Two building in Dublin, Ireland, that allowed engineering design firm Cundall to show a project they developed using environmentally friendly technology that is new to Ireland, to allow them to present it to potential new customers.

Production overview:

As the client wanted to present their engineering installation early in this drone filmed video production, using our construction drone services we produced this video commercial to focus solely on the client’s installation on the roof of the Riverside Two building located beside the River Liffey and close to Dublin city centre, Ireland.

LOCATION SCOUT: To get an understanding of the size of the client’s installed construction and it’s proximity to the surrounding area, we filmed and photographed the client’s installation on the roof of the Riverside Two building two weeks before the agreed shoot date.

SHOOTING SCRIPT: Our shooting script was developed to quickly introduce the video’s viewers to the client’s installation and its location on the roof of the Riverside Two building.

Folowing an overhead view of the whole roof space, our camera moves down and closer to the actual installation, showing its shape and features, before taking a clockwise pass of the installation to show its proximity to the River Liffey and Dublin landmarks below.

As our camera then makes an overhead pass of the main section of the intsallation, we cut to video footage filmed inside the installation, showing details of the equipment used within it.

EDIT: Using hard cuts between takes, we used a backing track whose power and pacing supported the cutting edge technology and contruction used in creating and installing the client’s carbon free plant.

Benedicts Hotel

Benedicts Hotel

Video production portfolio:
hotel video production for Benedicts of Belfast

Benedicts of Belfast approached veetoo and asked us to produce a cinema commercial that would engage and attract an early twenties demographic interested in visiting Belfast for a weekend break.

Production overview:

Tasked with this video production, veetoo developed a script that focused on a group of three young couples visiting Belfast for the weekend.

CASTING: After reviewing twenty applicants, we decided on six actors that best reflected the client’s target audience and hit the town running (literally) filming the hotel’s cinema commercial in one long working day – meeting the client’s budget and delivery deadline for their first video production in Belfast.

SHOOTING SCRIPT: We developed a shooting script that introduced the audience to our characters within photographs taken by the young friends as they visited popular tourist and shopping locations in central Belfast.

Photographs change to moving video imagery as we see the young friends arrive at and enter Benedicts of Belfast, where we see them enjoying the hotel’s reception, bar and live music, restaurant and bedrooms.

EDIT: After the shoot, we reviewed and agreed the best footage with the client and integrated it within a fast paced upbeat video, reflecting the excitement enjoyed by our group of friends during their visit to one of Belfast’s most popular hotel and bar establishments

Setting the scene – a group of friends in their early twenties visit Belfast for a weekend and enjoy some retail therapy as they visit Belfast’s primary shopping mall, Victoria Square, during a sight seeing trip in Northern Ireland’s capital. This photograph, used in our video production, shows one of the six friends looking exhausted after being chosen as official shopping bag carrier for the day.

Time for romance – introducing the hotel’s restaurant, we follow the hands of the maitre d’ as he serves a sumptuous dessert to two of the friends as they enjoy a romantic meal together. The other friends then crash this romantic moment before dragging the two lovers off to enjoy a live music session in the hotel’s bar area.

Keep it engaging – we are then introduced to the bar via this wide shot of the resident band as they pump out both traditional Irish music and generic pop cover tunes in the hotel’s old world themed bar.

Broadcast video for the BBC

Veetoo creative director, Stephen Bradley, was commissioned by BBC affiliate Wall to Wall to be director of photography and cameraman for an episode of the series The Genius of Photography, to document a Belfast photographer as he completed photography for a major exhibition of his work, showing the change in areas of South Armagh as they revert back to their natural state as the British army remove lookout towers and equipment put there during Northern Ireland’s Troubles.

Production overview:

Stephen travelled to Bessbrook, where he filmed photographer Donovan Wylie as he photographed the British army dismantling the last of their lookout towers on the hilltops of the South Armagh region of Northern Ireland.

Equipment used:

After filming Donovan preparing his camera equipment at his accommodation in Newry, Stephen and his production crew accompanied the photographer to what was a British army base in the village of Bessbrook, from where they flew with Donovan in an army Puma helicopter as he journeyed to and  photographed soldiers dismantling watchtowers on hilltops overlooking South Armagh.

SPECIALIST AUDIO RECORDING equipment was used to record Donovan as he talked through the helicopter’s audio platform with the helicopter pilot to ensure he got the best angles and light for his photographs.

Establishing shot: Wide shot showing Magnum photographer, Donovan Wylie, preparing his Hasselblad camera equipment for the day’s photoshoot. Lighting for this scene was natural light coming from a large window to the left of frame, supported by daylight reflected from a 2×3 meter white reflector, adding light and detail to the shadows.

Still image 2 from a video production on Donovan Wylie filmed for BBC television by Stephen S T Bradley of veetoo, a video production company in Belfast, Northern Ireland

On the move: A low camera angle was used to film Donovan as he leaves his accomodation, creating anticipation among the audience for the story that unfolds throughout his photoshoot at nearby Bessbrook village and the surrounding South Armagh countryside.

Army garrison: After filming Donovan waiting for his airborne transport to arrive, our cameraman filmed from the perspective of someone running to and boarding Puma helicopter, giving an indication of what Donovan experienced as he boarded his flight.

A video insert was then added in the edit showing the helicopter rising from the ground, as it made its way from the army garrison at Bessbrook village towards the South Armagh hills nearby.

Still image 4 from a video production on Donovan Wylie filmed for BBC television by Stephen S T Bradley of veetoo, a video production company in Belfast, Northern Ireland

Heavy duty protection: This footage was filmed after Donovan and the film crew returned to the army base and was added in the edit to give the impression that cameras in multiple locations filmed Donavan as his helicopter left the army base.

Smoke and mirrors: The helicopter in this wide shot was not the helicopter used by Donovan Wylie and was filmed to add in the edit as if it was taking Donovan to his hilltop shoot locations.

Main protagonist: Tight shots of Donovan at work were filmed to help create emotional engagement with him by the documentary’s audience.

Through these eyes: The South Armagh countryside is reflected in the visor of one of the crew of Dovovan’s Puma helicopter, as we see the photographer working away in the background.

Still image 9 from a video production on Donovan Wylie filmed for BBC television by Stephen S T Bradley of veetoo, a video production company in Belfast, Northern Ireland

Team work: Any good photographer will tell you that a photoshoot is only as good as the crew you work with. Donovan photographs the South Armagh hills as one of the helicopter’s safety crew watches on.
